Community Papers Scooped Up

Sound Publishing Inc. has purchased the Enumclaw Courier-Herald and Bonney Lake Courier-Herald newspapers for an undisclosed price. Sound Publishing, a subsidiary of Black Press Ltd., of British Columbia, bought the papers from a group consisting of Ted Natt, John Natt, David Natt and publisher Bill Marcum, who will remain in that role.

Sound Publishing now owns 20 community newspapers in Washington and operates 18 Little Nickel shopping papers in Washington and northern Oregon. Black Press bought the daily King County Journal and its nine nondaily community publications from Kentbased Horvitz Newspapers Inc. for an undisclosed amount in December 2006. The Journal was shut down a month later.
