BOTHELL -- Nastech Pharmaceuticals has changed its name to MDRNA and has a new CEO, Michael French. The company has been focused on developing nasal spray formulations of existing drugs. Under French, it's expected to focus instead on a new technology called RNA interference, which shuts off genes that cause diseases. Former CEO Steven Quay remains as the company's chief scientific officer and chairman.
REDMOND -- The DigiPen Institute of Technology, a school for video game designers and programmers, has developed two four-year programs to launch in the Fall 2008 semester. The Bachelor of Arts in Game Design and the Bachelor of Science in Game Design will have focuses on either the art and design or the programming of video games. The school is also launching a branch campus in Singapore this fall.
RICHLAND -- Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is building two new buildings to replace old Hanford facilities that are being vacated as part of the cleanup of the nuclear reservation. The new Biological Sciences Facility and Computational Sciences Facility will cost about $75 million to build and will add about 148,000 square feet to PNNL's facilities.
WENATCHEE -- Central Washington is no longer the nation's hottest housing market. Wenatchee slipped to No. 3 in the nation in the first quarter of the year, with price growth of 8 percent -- behind Houma, La., at 11.2 percent, and Grand Junction, Colo., at 9.1 percent.
