The Blue Mountain Mall in Walla Walla is headed for a massive renovation.
California-based Western Development Partners is expected to close a deal this month to buy the mall and spend $60 million redeveloping it.
The purchase price was not disclosed, but the Tri-City Herald reported that the project will rejuvenate the mall's attractiveness and turn around its dwindling occupancy rate.
Plans call for construction of 300,000 square feet of new retail space for a total of about 550,000 square feet housing 40 to 60 retailers. Store space will range up to about 30,000 square feet.
