A real estate developer is planning on turning the old Leavenworth Fruit Co. warehouse off State Route 2 into a $75 million condominium and shopping complex.
Make that a Bavarian condominium and shopping complex. Dubbed Obststadl, ("Fruit Village"), the project will include 120 residences, with doors to open in 2010. The developer is Charles Reppas, a resident of Leavenworth, the town in the north Cascades known for transplanted German-style architecture. Reppas was also the developer behind Lakeland near Seattle, a 3,000-residence master-planned community. Reppas is also in negotiations with the Port of Chelan County on redeveloping the Peshastin Mill site.
Housing in Obststadl will range from $300,000 to $900,000, and the project will include up to 500 parking spaces and an anchor restaurant. No word if "Bavarian" also extends to the BMW-driving target demographic.
