Nominations will open in fall 2008
Washington CEO Magazine will begin accepting nominations for its first Leaders in Health Care Awards in fall 2008. These awards will honor companies, individuals and organizations that are significantly impacting the quality of health care in Washington state. Entries will be judged on documented accomplishments.
Our goal is to recognize excellence, promote innovation, encourage emulation of successful programs, educate the public and contribute to enhancing the health care industry through recognition of these awards both in our magazine and at an awards event.
AWARDS WILL BE PRESENTED IN NINE CATEGORIES:
Outstanding Physician: Awarded to a physician for significant contributions in caring for patients and to the advancement of colleagues. Considerations should include, but not be limited to: demonstrated professionalism in delivering patient care; responsiveness to physical, emotional and intellectual needs of patients and families; accessibility to colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of medical care; research contributions; volunteer activities from local to international. Judges will also consider evidence of positive clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, and testimonials from peers and administrators.
Outstanding Nurse: Awarded to a nurse for significant contributions in caring for patients and to the advancement of colleagues. Considerations should include, but not be limited to: demonstrated professionalism in delivering patient care; responsiveness to physical, emotional and intellectual needs of patients and families; accessibility to colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of medical care; volunteer activities from local to international. Judges also will consider evidence of positive clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction and testimonials from peers and administrators.
Outstanding Health Care Professional: Awarded to a non-physician who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to health care. Considerations should include but not be limited to: demonstrated professionalism in delivering patient care; responsiveness to physical, emotional and intellectual needs of patients and families; implementation of practices that have improved patient outcomes; contributions to a provider?s mission of delivering high quality patient care; volunteer activities from local to international. Judges will consider submitted evidence of the nominee?s effectiveness including testimonials from superiors, peers and patients. This category does not include nurses or administrative positions.
Outstanding Healthcare Executive: Awarded to a hospital executive in Washington state who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to hospital management, administration and innovation. Considerations should include, but not be limited to: leadership, innovative and creative management; development of the organization; promoting the hospital and its growth and stature in the community; development of others in the healthcare profession; and community activities. Innovation in Health Care or Achievement in Research: Awarded to an individual or company in Washington for achievement and innovation in patient care, medical research, medical cost savings, patient safety and quality of care. Open to all medical-related individuals, companies and organizations including hospitals, research institutions, medical care providers, insurance companies. Judges will consider the current and future impact or their research or innovation. .
Employer Achievement in Health Care: Honors companies that are providing innovative health care programs to their employees. Entries will be accepted in three categories: Small companies (Less than 100 employees); medium companies, (100 to 499 employees); and large companies (more than 500 employees).
Outstanding Achievement in Community Outreach: Awarded to an individual, company or organization for development of a program that provides access to or improves the quality of health care in under-served areas or to under-served demographics. Judges will consider its uniqueness, cost-effectiveness and its impact on the community.
Outstanding Health Care Volunteer: Honors an individual who commits their time and talent to serving others in a health care setting-- a hospital or hospital auxiliary group, members of boards of trustees, volunteers for public health or free-standing programs. Explain the nature and dates of volunteer involvement and how it has made a major impact in the delivery of health care.
Lifetime Achievement Award: Awarded to an individual for his or her lifetime contribution to the improvement and advancement of health care in Washington.
